The Muslim World League (MWL) is an international, nongovernmental organisation that provides humanitarian relief and development programmes serving communities in need regardless of religion, race, gender or beliefs. Muslim World League helps in alleviating the suffering of the distressed and needy people world-wide. It has a legal personality and an administrative and financial entity of its own, within the framework of its constitution and bylaws.

MUSLIM WORLD LEAGUE SOUTHERN AFRICA

The Muslim World League opened (MWL) its Southern African Regional Offices in 2010, which is based in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. The organisation directs its charitable efforts to at least 11 countries in the Southern Africa Region, providing aid and assistance to the needy and victims of calamities. We pride ourselves on performing our message with skill and efficiency, as well as firmly establishing our relief role within the region. Our of field work gains a new aspect every day and the trustworthiness of its action. We strongly maximise efforts which is reflected our quick call to action, for relief of the grieved and supporting of the needy, without any local support.

For more than three decades, the Muslim World League has been active in Africa, uplifting many African countries and communities with infrastructural development, medical aid and other resources. The Muslim World League South Africa (MWLSA) is a local, branch operating out of Durban, KZN, where key project management for the continent takes place on a daily basis. It is headed by the Executive Advisor to the African Continent for the MWL, Sheikh Walid El Saadi. Born in Lebanon in 1956, from a young age, he has always been passionate about social work and serving humanity.

The MWLSA recently acquired a property in Westridge, Durban, which is presently being renovated through a multi million rand investment programme. The aim of the project is to develop a non-profit Centre for persons with disabilities. The project called RIA – The Rehabilitation Centre for Africa, is underway to feature numerous advanced medical provisions and equipment, to help uplift the local community, while providing much-needed support for persons with disabilities.

MWLSA is responsible for multi million-rand sponsorship’s to organisations nationally throughout South Africa and continentally, in Africa. Monthly rollouts of humanitarian aid extend far beyond financial injection, as food aid, developmental programmes and other forms of assistance, have been the livelihood for many families, especially during the global pandemic, COVID-19.

The organisation has been instrumental in creating sustainable partnerships with other religious leaders globally and locally, pulling together multiple resources to extend its reach. The strong message of religious tolerance and cohesion, has United multiple religions in the country, spreading love and tolerance even further.
